About this product
Lipping is the edge strip that covers the raw core of a door leaf and takes the hinge screws, the lock mortice and the daily knocks. Because it is visible on every closed door, it is supplied in Grade A rather than Core.
Solid S4S lipping is normally light density timber below 600 kg/m³ for laminate doors. Finger-jointed lipping in high density timber above 750 kg/m³ is used where the edge has to hold hardware or meet a fire rating. Beading is run to match, so the glazing detail and the edge detail come from the same species and the same batch.
